The Oxford House Christian Study Center, doing business as the Rice Christian Study Center (“the Center,” “we,” “us”), is an independent, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves students and faculty at Rice University in Houston, Texas. This policy explains what information we collect through ricestudycenter.org, our forms, and our text messages, and how we use and protect it.

Information we collect

Information you give us, such as when you RSVP for an event, sign up for our emails or texts, ask a question through our website, apply to a program, or request a speaker:

• Your name, email address, and mobile phone number
• Your connection to Rice (for example, student, faculty, staff, or community member) and, for students, your class year or residential college
• Your event RSVPs, form answers, and any messages you send us

Donations. Gifts are processed by secure third-party payment processors. We receive your name, contact information, and gift details, but we do not store full credit card or bank account numbers.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours uses cookies and similar tools to keep the site working and to understand how visitors use it, such as which pages are visited. You can limit cookies in your browser settings.

How we use your information

• To manage events, RSVPs, and programs, and to respond to your questions and requests
• To send emails and, if you opt in, text messages about our events and programs
• To process and acknowledge donations
• To improve our website, events, and programs
• To meet legal and tax requirements

Text messaging (SMS)

If you check the box to receive texts, we will send messages about our events and programs, such as event reminders, RSVP confirmations, schedule or location changes, and program updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Agreeing to receive texts is never required to attend an event or use our website. How we share information

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the Center, such as our website and contact-management platform, email and office software, and payment processors. They may use your information only to provide services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of others. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, as described above.

Your choices

• Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Texts: reply STOP to any message.
• Your information: email us to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.

Children’s privacy

Our website and programs are designed for college students and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

How we protect and keep information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, and we limit access to people who need it to serve you. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above.
