Rice Christian Study Center and Veritas Forum to Host Faculty-Student Lunch on Sept. 18

The Rice Christian Study Center, in partnership with the Veritas Forum, will host a Faculty-Student Lunch on September 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Rice Memorial Center Grand Hall. This special gathering will bring Christian faculty and students together for an afternoon of hospitality, connection, and meaningful conversation across campus.

The event reflects the Study Center’s mission to cultivate Christian thought and life at Rice through intellectual inquiry, spiritual formation, creative expression, and hospitality. It also offers a unique opportunity for Christian faculty to encourage one another while welcoming students into a space where they can connect with professors who are thoughtful about faith, vocation, and life at the university.

The lunch will begin with time to gather informally, enjoy drinks and finger foods, and settle in before moving into the main table conversations. From noon to 12:50 p.m., participants will join intentional discussions designed to spark connection around faith, learning, and the shared life of the Rice community. RCSC leadership hopes the event will strengthen bonds among Christian faculty while creating a warm and welcoming space for students to meet them.

The Veritas Forum, which partners with universities to foster thoughtful dialogue about life’s biggest questions, is helping make the gathering possible. Similar events at other universities have brought together large groups of faculty and students for rich conversation and lasting relationships, and Rice is excited to continue building that kind of community here.

This luncheon is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the ways Christian faculty and students contribute to the intellectual and spiritual flourishing of Rice. It is also a chance to deepen relationships across campus and encourage the next generation of scholars, leaders, and faithful witnesses.
