The Daily Office at the RMC Chapel
Pause. Pray. Begin Again.
College life is full: early classes, late-night studying, overflowing inboxes, group chats, deadlines, big questions, and the pressure to keep moving. The Rice Christian Study Center invites you to step out of the noise for a few minutes each weekday and join us for the Weekday Daily Office.
The Daily Office is an ancient Christian rhythm of prayer rooted in Scripture, psalms, silence, and shared prayer. Christians have paused to pray at set times of day since the earliest centuries of the Church. In the Anglican tradition, Morning and Evening Prayer were made accessible for ordinary people—not just clergy or monastics—through the Book of Common Prayer.
You do not need to know the prayers. You do not need to have your life figured out. You do not need to be “good at prayer.” Just come as you are.
Join us in RMC Chapel each weekday:
- 8:15 a.m. — Morning Prayer
- 4:00 p.m. — Vesper Prayer
Morning Prayer is a way to begin before the day begins making demands of you. Take a breath, put down your phone, hear Scripture, and place the day ahead in God’s hands.
Vesper Prayer is a chance to close the tabs—literally and figuratively. Before moving into your evening, take a moment to notice where you have been, give thanks, release what is heavy, and remember that you are more than your productivity.
Each gathering is brief, simple, and welcoming. You may pray aloud, follow along, or simply sit quietly. Come every day, once a week, or whenever you need a reset. There is no attendance list, no pressure, and no prerequisite.
This is not one more thing to add to your calendar. It is space to become present to God, yourself, and one another.
Pause. Pray. Begin again.
