Rice Christian Study Center Accepted as Prospective Member of the Consortium

We are thrilled to announce that Rice Christian Study Center has been accepted as a Prospective Member of the Consortium of Christian Study Centers, a national network that champions serious Christian learning on secular campuses. This recognition affirms our vision to be a modern-day L’Abri at Rice: a winsome center where hospitality, thoughtful conversation, and faithful scholarship shape students for lifelong discipleship and public witness. As a Prospective Member we now have access to Consortium training, national internships, and consulting that will accelerate our program development and expand our reach across campus and city. With your partnership — through volunteer time, introductions to faculty and donors, and financial gifts that stabilize our staffing and program budget — we can meet the organizational benchmarks the Consortium expects and move from prospective to full membership, securing an even stronger platform for Christian formation at Rice.

How you can help us take the next step

- Give to sustain programs and staff: Unrestricted or operating gifts are the fastest way to demonstrate stable capacity — the single most important factor in moving toward full membership.

- Sponsor attendance: Help send a staff member or board representative to the Consortium Annual Meeting this July 27-29, 2026 in Madison, WI so we can return with fresh partnerships and practical improvements.

- Make introductions: Connect us with faculty, alumni, clergy, or foundation contacts who can partner on events, provide guest lectures, or explore transformational support.

- Volunteer expertise: If you have experience in nonprofit governance, development, or program evaluation, your short-term consulting can help us prepare the policies and documentation the Consortium looks for.

Over the coming months we will report on specific milestones as we work toward full membership: staffing stability, documented program outcomes, and stronger institutional partnerships. To support this next season, we’ve launched a Membership Fund — gifts to this fund will go directly to staffing and program needs that the Consortium evaluates. Rev. Creighton Alexander, PhD

Rev. Creighton Drew Alexander, PhD serves with a growing team of students, faculty, and local church leaders to launchThe Rice Christian Study Center at Rice University. In addition, he serves as the John Wesley Fellows (A Foundation for Theological Education) Scholar-In-Residence for the School of Christian Thought at Houston Christian University. A passionate advocate for transformative ministry and leadership development, Creighton brings over two decades of experience in higher education to the table. He possesses a diverse background as a Campus Pastor, Fellow, and Professor within higher education, bringing a commitment to Biblical, purposeful, and transformative ministry and leadership development. Grounded in a deep faith and commitment to empowering others, Creighton has dedicated his career to fostering worship, discipleship, and leadership skills in young adults. Creighton received his B.A. from Texas Tech University in Psychology, his M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Studies in Education from the University of Kansas.
